Indian Corn

I got my idea from Pinterest

Lay out 4 pipe cleaners.

At the middle where they cross, start twisting them together.

Line out your corn colors, and start threading the beads.

Turkey

Isn’t he cute.Found him on Pinterest.

More about him here.

Leaf Rubbing

 Leaf rubbing.

Take a nature walk, or collect leaves from your front yard.

Happy Thanksgiving

I make this almost every year.  I love handprints.  I got this poem when I worked DayCare almost 30 years ago or more.

This isn’t just a turkey as anyone can see

I made it with my hand which is a part of me

It comes with lots of love, Especially to say

I hope you have a very Happy Thanksgiving Day.

(And don’t forget the year)

Included my kids turkeys for sentimental purposes.

Spider web sun catcher

I got my idea from this blog.
Go here and check her out.

This is tissue paper, in the sections, to make it a sun catcher.
You could also use this idea for SnowFlakes.

Handprint Halloween Cards

I think it’s amusing that you almost can’t see the ghost in the 3rd picture.

Fold paper in half.
Put your pinkie finger on the fold so you can make a card.
Cut out handprint
Decorate front as you would like.
Write a message inside.

I found my inspiration here

Candy Corn

 Candy Corn.

Cut up squares of  3 colors for your candy corn.

I chose white, yellow and orange.

Scarecrow

This craft is made with a paper plate, and then you paint the plate, and assemble his parts.  Complete with a nose, patch for his hat, cheeks, and a SPIDER.

I love her blog and all her super cute ideas.  Her link is listed below.

Ghost Spiral

When you put this on copy paper and cut it, his tail spirals.

Pumpkin strips

Find a Pumpkin pattern you like.

Cut out the shape onto colored paper.

Take a 2nd sheet and line up cut strips of paper (scrapbook paper, colored paper, etc) then overlay your cut out pumpkin onto the strips.

Pumpkin Salt Painting

This pumpkin is fun to create with the kids, or any age.
If drawing on black, use chalk, any other color pencil or sharpie will do.
Draw your outline,
Put glue all along your outline
Pour salt on top of the glue
Shake off the excess salt
Grab a paintbrush, dab it in watercolor paints and touch lightly on the salt.
It bleeds out the color.  This is a fun activity.

Handprint Ghost

 Another Halloween idea.

So cute and parents love it as it is a lasting memory of when their hands were so small.

For this one I use black cardstock, white paint, and write name/dates in chalk.

I learned this in the late 1980’s from a DayCare and always thought this was the cutest idea,

The Great Fall Fest

I usually have a Children's Fall Fest in our Meeting Room, complete with games, such as toilet paper bean bag toss, where I stack toilet paper, and laminated book characters and glued/taped them on the rolls.  We also have games such as Cup-Cake Walk, or Book Walk where you play Children's Halloween Songs, and they stop on a number and you select a number from a hat, and the winner gets to select a book or cupcake.  I did Cup Cakes 2 years in a row, and the Book Walk the 3rd Year.  Pumpkin Matching, and ring toss.  I even dressed up Tootsie Roll pops as ghost. (Idea stolen from my boss—The Great Jenn Freeman)

For the Memory Game and other ideas

Other games for your fall fest

Jack-o-lantern

Frankenstein

The pictures below are of 3 years doing Children’s Services at 2 different Libraries.

If you do the Pumpkin Matching, I copied these faces onto orange paper, and made 2 copies.

Take a napkin and place the sucker upside down on the MIDDLE of the napkin.
Bring all edges of the napkin and wrap around the stick
Tie a bow with yarn to hold the napkin in place.
Draw faces on the napkins.
ENJOY!

I found book characters (or like Snoopy, MY favorite) and printed off the size of the toilet paper width and laminated so I can use them over and over for like Bowling or Ring Toss.
I also reused these at Christmas by stapling a stocking on the bulletin board and using these laminated pieces atop the Christmas stocking.

Felt "squares" and glue foam numbers on them for the cake walk.
One set I had, I even had velcro on the back of the felt square so it wouldn't budge during the game.
Use them for Cake Walk or at the Library we have CupCake Walk OR Book Walk where we give away free books.

I usually put together a bag of goodies, bought by our Friends of the Library, for them to take home.
Bookmark, pencil, candy, and halloween favors.
Then I put on the baggie Provided by Friends of the Rusk County Library.
